Tom and Dorothy's beginning

As I was cleaning and going through pictures to begin this blog I found my parent's "Our Temple Marriage" book.
Below is their announcement.

Mom wrote about their engagement on one of the pages.  It was the only one I was able to scan successfully.
This picture was in the book.  Can you see Dorothy, Waity, Atella, Sara and Annamarie?  That's Grandpa Carl in a wheel chair in the corner.
This was the spread of food during their reception in Atella's home.
These are pictures of Dorothy taken in her yard before the wedding.

This is a sweet picture taken in Grandma Haws's bedroom.  I remember this dresser.
This has the date written on the back.  It was taken the night before their wedding.

There was a page that told about the ceremony.  It was June 25, 1953.  In the Arizona Temple in Mesa Arizona.  The evening session.  The ceremony was conducted my J.O. Stradling, Jr.  Those in attendance were:
The Carl L. Haws Jrs
The Rudy Bloomfields
Mom (Atella Haws)
Aunts Waity Crosby, Clara Butler, Ida Burgess
The Bert Crosbys
Ethel Updike and Edna Nelson

There was a page titled Wedding Journey.
Our Wedding Journey consisted of going to the temple in Mesa.  We left Round Valley early Thursday morning, just Tom and I and went to Phoenix where we obtained a license.  My folks met us in Mesa.  We went to the temple the evening session and so were married about 10 pm.  We all ate together afterwards.
The following day we had pictures taken by Earl and drove to Prescott where we spent the night.  It was nice and cool and had been oh so hot in Phoenix.  We visited Tooze-goot ruins and oak creek canyon and home to Winslow Sat. Evening.
Tom had to be to work on Monday.  Later in October we had 5 days and we again went to Mesa and did temple work.

There was a page titled At Home.
We lived in a garage apartment which To and his Brother in law Elmer built.  It was nice and new and real fun.  In the fall of Oct we movged into our home.  (Tom had bought previously and it was paid for!)  It was at 410 Colorado.  Just next door to his apartment
